Choosing to Make Life Work - Be a people of peace.

How does one listen or read the news and not ask, "Where is God?"  We discussed this in our small group Bible Study yesterday here at Monte Vista Grove Homes.  I've been watching Rick Steve's Travel programs about Europe on TV.  He gives a history of the countries that he is visiting--France, England, Ireland, Holland, Sweden, Italy, Germany, etc.  Since the beginning of time, one country over takes another country, makes slaves out of the conquered practicing oppression, death and mayhem.   Countries in the world we live in are still at it -- warring one with another and within their countries.  We keep praying for peace.  We live in Hope and believe God's "will be done on earth as it is in heaven."

I guess as we pray for peace, at least for me, I believe in our own personal worlds we struggle with positive and negative forces as well.  As we try to be objective about ourselves and those around us, as a people we are "takers".  We expect life to "give" us something.  Those of us who profess to know God in Christ develop patterns of expecting God to do something and somehow prove that he exists.  Who is responsible for our condition or the world's for that matter?  God's spirit encourages and enables each of us to be "givers".  Our hope is as each one of us reaches out and helps our neighbors we are God's hands and feet.  Multiply that by ten, hundred, thousand times and we will be contributing to be a people of peace  and God's "will be done on earth as it is in heaven."
